Jeff with Structure Review and RMS here today. I wanna talk to you guys about the importance of quality assurance. Some people view it as an added expense to a project, but in reality, if you’re going to all the effort to spend money to hire a quality contractor and do your best to get a roof system that’s gonna last you a long time, it costs you nothing to make sure that everything is done properly.

Being able to have somebody on site who is dedicated to making sure that things are done properly and represent the best interest of everyone involved—ownership, general contractor, roofing contractor, manufacturer—we all wanna see a successful project. If you can have somebody up here looking at little details like how materials are stored, making sure your fastener placements are appropriate to accommodate for wind uplift if an event takes place, and making sure all your welds are good.

Once the roof’s done, trades don’t pay attention to other trades’ work. You’re gonna have foot traffic up here, and you wanna make sure that newly installed roof is not delivered with a bunch of punctures or issues. Whether it’s doing quality assurance during construction or quality assurance testing after, it’s critical. It’s worth every penny.
