Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) to Identify Leak Sources

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) is a powerful technology that helps identify the exact point of leaks in a roof system.

While moisture mapping shows where water exists within the roof assembly, ELD finds the precise opening or breach that’s allowing that moisture in. It’s ideal for new construction quality assurance or diagnosing persistent leaks in aging systems where visual inspections fall short.

If you’ve been chasing the same leak without success, Structura View can help. Contact us for a consultation to see if Electronic Leak Detection is right for your project.

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) is a unique testing technology that can bring significant value in a variety of situations.

Unlike moisture mapping—which identifies where moisture is present within a roof’s composition—electronic leak detection pinpoints the exact opening or failure point that allows that moisture to enter the roof system.

This service is useful in several scenarios. For new construction, it can be used as a post-completion quality assurance check, testing the entire roof—including penetrations, membrane laps, and other details—to verify a fully sealed, watertight assembly.

Later in a roof’s life, when systems begin to age and leak issues become harder to resolve, electronic leak detection becomes invaluable. If multiple repair attempts have failed to stop a leak, ELD can identify small breaches or pinhole issues that are otherwise difficult to locate visually.

If you’re dealing with any of these challenges, contact us for a free consultation to determine whether electronic leak detection is the right solution for your project.
